Ikea kitchen cabinets are a great choice for your rental unit or personal home alike. They feature top-quality Blum cabinet hardware found in the high-budget custom cabinets at an Ikea-budget price, and they have a huge range of sizes and configurations. Full-extension drawers and soft close hinges are life-changing!

All Ikea cabinets are frameless (also called Euro style), which gives a sleek modern look with doors covering the entire cabinet box. In addition, Ikea carries a wide variety of accessories and inserts perfectly sized to fit in these cabinets.

The only downside is that it's hard to know where to start! This is where AYL Home Improvements comes in. To make your kitchen unique, I incorporate custom countertops into my designs and source fixtures and cabinet pulls from other sources so your kitchen doesn't look like the Ikea showroom.

We have recommendations for licensed plumbers and electricians if you need to reconfigure the layout. As an avid cook myself, I know how important it is to get a proper "working triangle" -- maximizing efficiency in the kitchen is an art and a science!

I recommend the Ikea Sektion kitchen cabinet range for most use cases. The boxes and hardware are the highest quality in Ikea's range, and there is a wide variety of door styles to fit any budget. The 15" upper cabinets offer a ton of extra storage over the 12" cabinets you'd find at the big-box store. The Enhet range is also a great choice on a shoestring budget, especially for a smaller kitchen space that would benefit from shallower upper cabinets.
I recommend drawers for most lower cabinets. Instead of losing everything in too-deep shelves, the Ikea Sektion drawers are full extension so you can see everything clearly and grab things quickly.
For a high-end, custom kitchen, splurge on custom doors for your Ikea boxes. This gets you beauty where it matters while still capitalizing on Ikea's economies of scale. Best of both worlds! We can even custom paint the doors for a kitchen that's truly unique.
If you fall in love with a particular countertop, you can bring in your own outside installer. We of course can connect you with local fabricators at a wide range of price points. Quartz is an engineered stone and is the perfect choice for hard-wearing countertops whether in a rental property or your luxury home. Premium quartz countertops like Cambria are much easier to maintain than natural Carrera marble, while a simple budget quartz will last through years of use. To dress it up, a waterfall countertop makes a huge visual impact while also being a practical choice.
After the cabinets and countertops are installed, it's time to install backsplash. Tile backsplash is a natural choice at any budget. Since it's a relatively small area, this is my favorite place to splurge on something unique and eye-catching! Or on a budget, white subway tile is a classic for a reason; we have some great tricks to make it pop, like an interesting pattern or unusual dimension.
